OCTOBER 25, 2026 – Monteriggioni and Siena: The Cathedral Floor and the Palio Contrade
A fascinating day discovering two authentic Tuscan gems. We will begin with a guided tour of Monteriggioni, one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval villages, enclosed by spectacular walls and 14 towers that still dominate the Sienese landscape today.
After a pleasant lunch at a farmhouse in the Tuscan countryside, we will continue to Siena to visit the magnificent Cathedral and its extraordinary marble floor—considered one of the world’s most precious artistic masterpieces. It is a unique work, usually covered for most of the year and visible only during special periods.
The day will conclude with a visit to a historic *Contrada* (district) of the Siena Palio, offering an up-close look at the traditions, symbols, rivalries, and fascinating details that make this event one of Italy’s most famous and deeply felt celebrations.
